After the historic vote, electing Scott Brown to fill Kennedy's Senate seat, an updated national poll results show that a majority of Americans say President Obama and Democrats should stop working on the healthcare overhaul and rethink ideas that have been presented with Republican support. Scott Brown's victory is a game changer.
The Presidency and Democratic Party has focused for this past year on healthcare reform, rather than pouring energy into improving the sluggish economy. What is more important, a job or health insurance? Without a job, many Americans cannot afford health insurance. The message has been sent to the White House that job creation is more pressing than health care reform.
Americans have become frustrated across party lines, and this frustration of increased government spending, political favors, and closed door negotiations have fueled these shared feelings.
The majority of Independents and Republicans want to go back to the drawing board and draft new legislation, suspend the work on the current legislation, and consider more balanced alternatives.
